The Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) was established to formalize and specify Institution's commitment for promoting high scientific and ethical standards with regards to patient care, professional education, clinical research, and community interests.
High ethical standards with timely review form the basis of the IEC review process. These are essential for clinical research including student research, investigator initiated research, extramural, intramural funded research and multi-centric multinational research.

The IEC of BBCI is named as ‘Medical Ethics Committee’ and has been reconstituted from 09.09.2021.

The Data Safety Monitoring Unit (DSMU) is a subcommittee of the IEC, and is mainly responsible for monitoring patient safety and assessing data during the course of the study in a manner that contributes to the scientific and ethical integrity of the study.
