DR SAWMIK DAS, MBBS MD BIOCHEMISTRY, PROFESSOR Department of
Oncopathology, is an experienced Clinical Biochemist with more than 15 years post MD
work-experience in various Institutes and 10 years in specialized Oncology setup. Dr. Das is
an active member of Association of Clinical Chemistry and Lab Medicine Practitioners.

Apart from expertise in latest and highly sensitive tests of routine biochemistry/ tumor markers/ hormonal assays, etc. Dr. Das has vast experience in handling various ancillary techniques in field of molecular biology and biotechnology with special emphasis on Real time PCR and Fluorescent In-situ Hybridization. Dr Das has also mentored students of various courses like MSc Cancer Biology and Diploma in medical laboratory technology.

Dr.Das is trained in Internal Audit and Quality Management System and his non-ending efforts as Quality Manager made Biochemistry and Hematology Sections of Laboratory services, Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute accredited with National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories in field of Medical Testing in year 2022.

Dr. Das has 10 research publication and 1 Book chapter to his credit apart from several interdepartmental research activities. Dr.Das is the Principal Investigator of an ongoing ICMR funded research project. Dr.Das has participated in various Regional as well as National Conferences in Field of Clinical-Biochemistry and Oncology and conducted the same at BBCI.
