Dr. Asif Iqbal has done MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati. He undertook Superspeciality training at the Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, Kolkata, and obtained DM in Clinical Hematology in 2017. He also undertook a specialized training at AIIMS, New Delhi and preceptorship program at MSKCC, New York. He also obtained a short term training at ACTREC, Mumbai in Stem cell transplantation in 2021.
Dr. Iqbal has obtained Young Investigator program grant for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021 from Society of Hematologic Oncology, Houston. He has cleared the European Hematology Exam at Stockholm in 2018. He was also granted the Diplomate of Royal College of Pathologists in Hematology in 2022. Dr. Iqbal has earned both regional and national accolades for pioneering stem cell transplantation in North-East India. He was awarded Assam Gaurav, the 3rd highest civilian award in 2021 and Young Achiever’s award by Dalmia group in 2022.
In work front, his primary interest is Myeloid neoplasms and he is currently working on modified induction protocol for AML in both standard and high risk groups. His current engagement in BBCI is since May, 2020.
