DR. KABINDRA BHAGABATI, MBBS, MSc (Palliative Medicine), Medical Officer and I/c Department of Palliative Medicine, has experience of working as a Palliative care Physician for last 23 years. Dr Bhagabati has obtained Post-Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine from Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia and MSc from Cardiff University, UK. He has undergone training in Paediatric Palliative Care and Psychiatric aspects of Palliative care in Austria.

 

Dr. Bhagabati is a National Faculty member for Palliative Care of Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC). He is a trainer of Palliative Care for the doctors, nurses, social workers and volunteers. Dr Bhagabati is coordinating the IAPC’s certificate courses and also acting as Mentor for National Fellowship in Palliative Medicine under CMAI & IPM, Calicut. He is also working as a resource person in various national and international Palliative care meets.

 

Dr. Bhagabati is the Project In-charge of Integrated Hospital Based Continuity of Care (IHCC) including home care service supported by Cipla Foundation. Dr Bhagabati was awarded DK Gogoi Shastri Memorial Award to Palliatuve Care unit for leadership in Palliative Home care by Pratishruti Cancer and Palliative Trust, Dibrugarh. He was awarded for Best Free Paper presentation in Xth International Conference of IAPC on 2003 in Hyderabad. He was awarded Second Best Performing Doctor 2015 of BBCI by Shri R. S. Mushahary, Former Governor of Meghalaya on behalf of the Management of BBCI. He also received Award of Appreciation presented by Dr A C Kataki, Former Director of BBCI for valuable contribution in the field of Palliative Medicine on 69th Republic Day of India, 2018.

 

Dr. Bhagabati has published 4 research papers in reputed medical and scientific journals. He has authored four Book Chapters on Principles of Palliative care. He is writing Palliative care articles for scientific magazines on regular basis. He is also associated with several research projects on Palliative care.

 

Dr. Bhagabati has Organized 8 Palliative care Awareness and Opioid Workshops in all North-Eastern states of India. Dr Bhagabati has Organized various Skill Development programs for financial rehabilitation of the patients and relatives with expertise from different fields. He is the president of Model Village of Palliative Care, a community activity to promote Palliative care in villages.

 

Dr. Bhagabati has attended 34 National and International conference in India and in abroad. He has presented various posters, topics as resource person and also participated as chairperson in various sessions.
