Dr. Manigreeva Krishnatreya, MBBS, DLO, MHA is the Medical Officer (SO-E) in the Department of Cancer Registry and Epidemiology at Dr. B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI). Dr. Krishnatreya is the Principal Investigator of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) task force project Hospital Based Cancer Registry. Dr. Krishnatreya is also the Co-Investigator of multiple ICMR and Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India-funded research projects at BBCI.
Dr. Krishnatreya underwent training on Population-Based Cancer Survival at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK in 2013. Dr. Krishnatreya’s research interests are in identifying cancer risk including the study of interactions between genes and external factors, cancer incidence and mortality, temporal trends of common cancers, childhood cancers, and cancer survival studies.
Dr. Krishnatreya has presented papers at international conferences like the American Association of Cancer Research’s Cancer Disparity Conference in SA, Texas, USA in 2014 and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) World Cancer Congress held at KL, Malaysia in 2018.
Dr. Krishnatreya has published more than 40 research papers in reputed medical and scientific journals with a citation of over 4000 of his papers and an H-index of 13. He has co-authored three Chapters for three textbooks. Dr. Krishnatreya’s initiative of linking the National Health Protection Mission’s Cancer Data with the National Cancer Registry Program has been approved by the National Health Authority, Government of India. Dr.Krishnatreya was a Member of the CONCORD working group (CWG) for global surveillance on cancer survival. Dr. Krishnatreya is the Member Secretary of the Scientific Committee of Dr. B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI). He is also a former Member of the Institutional Ethics Committee of BBCI. Dr Krishnatreya is the Associate Editor of the journal Annals of Oncology Research and Therapy, an official publication of BBCI. Dr.Krishnatreya serves on the Editorial Board of Cancer Research, Treatment, and Communications (Elsevier). Dr.Krishnatreya frequently peer-reviews articles for the Indian Journal of Medical Research.
Dr.Krishnatreya is the Nodal Officer for the implementation of Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi at BBCI. He serves as the Member Secretary for the Late Deepika Phukan Oncology Research Grant Award. Dr.Krishnatreya is the Founder and Secretary General of Cancer Research Foundation, India. Dr.Krishnatreya has assisted 9000 or more patients with cancer to receive financial assistance from government funds. Dr.Krishnatreya has served the community by delivering talks in numerous cancer awareness programs for the prevention and early detection of common cancers. Dr.Krishnatreya has screened more than 10,000 individuals in the local community for early detection of oral cancer.
