Dr. Sonai Datta Kakati, DA (Diploma Anaesthesiology),DNB ( Anaesthesiology), Assistant Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain, BBCI has joined this prestigious institute in 2020 and has experience of around 17 years in the field of anaesthesiology and critical care. She has passed her Diploma Anaesthesia in 2006 from Gauhati Medical College and then did her senior residency for almost two years at GTB and UCMS New Delhi. After that, she finished her DNB Anaesthesiology from the prestigious St. Johns Medical College and Hospital , Bangalore. After finishing DNB ,she finished three and half years of residency from NEIGRIHMS ,Shillong ,where she also acquired the certificate of critical care training IDCCM (Indian Diploma Of Critical Care Medicine ) in 2007.

She has also undergone training at DARADIA Kolkata in 2009 and got the Fellowship of Interventional Pain Medicine. She then joined as junior consultant at Nazareth Hospital Shillong and worked independently in various OT s and ICU .There she also acquired the skill of performing Ultrasound guided blocks in regional anaesthesia and Point of Care Ultrasound in ICU. She joined as Junior Consultant ICU at Hayat Superspecialty Hospital and worked for more than a year in ICU before joining at BBCI.

She is a Certified BCLS instructor and CCLS provider under Indian Resuscitation Council Federation and has trained anaesthesia technicians, teachers, students of various schools.

She has co- authored one book chapter. She has several publications to her name and has contributed to the first edition of the BBCI EDGE newsletter .She is also actively involved in training of anaesthesia technicians and research activities. She is a member of Hospital Infection Control Committee and Mortality Committee. Her special interest is in managing critical care patients in ICU and has got experience of giving anaesthesia for different kinds of onco surgeries.

She has attended national conferences of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain several times, where she participated as faculty and Judge of paper presentation and presented lectures ,papers, posters ,reviewers of award papers , and was involved in panel discussion too She has also attended critical care conferences, regional anaesthesia conferences, and several local and zonal anaesthesia conferences and participated as faculty in national webinar. She is a life member of the national body ISA, life member of ISCCM (Indian Society Of Critical care Medicine).She is also at present ,the Executive body member of ISA state chapter ,Guwahati and also of AIDAA ,Guwahati Branch.
