- More than 12-years’ experience in surgical oncology
- Underwent super-specialty training (MCh in Surgical Oncology) at Cancer Institute (WIA), Chennai and former Assistant Professor in the same institute.
- Has performed more than 2500 major cancer surgeries with more than 500 minimally invasive surgeries for cancer.
- He is the Convenor of the Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary Cancers Disease Management Group (DMG) at BBCI.
- He is a member of the Bone and Soft tissue tumours DMG and the Paediatric Cancers DMG at BBCI being the leading surgeon for these cancers.
- He is proficient in a wide range of minimally invasive surgeries (laparoscopic, thoracoscopic and endoscopic surgeries) for cancers of esophagus, lung, stomach, colon, rectum, kidney, adrenal, pancreas, liver and gallbladder. He has presented his work in various international and national forums.
- He has performed over 100 esophagectomies and has won the best video award for the procedure of minimally invasive esophagectomy in a national conference (Indian Cancer Congress, Mumbai, 2023).
- He has to his credit several firsts at BBCI including first VATS lung metastasectomies and lobectomies (2019), first laparoscopic standard gastrectomy (2019), first sentinel node biopsies in breast cancer and penile cancer (2019), first oncoplastic breast surgeries including AICAP, LICAP and TDAP (2019), first bTME laterally extended resections and sacrectomies for advanced rectal cancers (2019), first totally minimally invasive esophagectomy (2020), first central hepatectomy (2021), first laparoscopic intersphincteric resection and laparoscopic ELAPE (2021), first video-endoscopic inguinal lymphadenectomy (2021), first neobladder reconstruction (2021), first CRS-HIPEC (2022) and first expandable endoprosthesis (2023).
- He has performed a large series of multi-organ resections for gastrointestinal cancers. He has published this work in an indexed journal.
- He has special interest in colorectal surgeries including minimally invasive (laparoscopic) sphincter preservation surgeries (including LAR, ULAR and intersphincteric resections) and extensive surgeries like extended TMEs (exenterations), ELAPE and ischio-anal APEs. He has published this work in indexed journals.
- His skillset also includes complex pancreatic resections including colo-whipple’s, pancreatic resection with portal vein resection and repair, hepatopancreatoduodenectomies, and RAMPS
- He is adept in performing in a large number and variety of loco-regional flaps.
- He does dedicated work in bone and soft tissue (BST) tumours including complex shoulder resections and internal hemipelvectomies and compartmental resections for retroperitoneal tumours. He has performed more than 100 limb salvage surgeries for musculoskeletal tumours.
- He has more than 50 oncology-related published articles in various national and international peer-reviewed journals with 53 citations. He is the author of 7 book chapters. He is the co-PI and co-investigator in more than 5 on-going research projects at BBCI.
- He has been the faculty trainer in various surgical workshops with live demonstration of procedures like laparoscopic colorectal surgeries, minimally invasive esophagectomy, trans-hiatal esophagectomy, multi-organ resection for gastric cancer, breast surgeries including sentinel node biopsy.
- He is the founding and current Editor of the official scientific magazine of BBCI named BBCI EDGE. Four issues have been released till date including: Musculoskeletal Cancer Special (June, 2020), Head and Neck Cancer Special (July, 2021), Esophageal Cancer Special (May, 2022) and Golden Jubilee Edition (Dec, 2022) and Golden Jubilee Edition (2023).
- He is the Deputy Secretary and Website in-charge of North-East Association of Surgical Oncology (NASO).
- He is the Editor and Website-in-charge of Association of Oncologists of North-East India (AONEI).
- He is an Editor of BMC Public Health.
