Dr. Jyotiman Nath, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology with more than seven years of experience in the field. Prior to joining Dr. B Borooah Cancer Institute in August 2018, he worked at the State Cancer Institute attached to Gauhati Medical College in Guwahati.

 

Dr. Nath has 50 indexed publications and 4 book chapters to his credit. He serves as a peer reviewer for many indexed journals, including The Lancet Regional Health (South East Asia) and JCRT. He also holds editorial board positions in two indexed journals. Dr. Nath is the Co-Principal Investigator in research projects funded by ICMR. He is a co-investigator in the Population Based Cancer Registry (PBCR)-Kamrup Urban.

 

 

Dr. Nath has attended and presented papers at many national conferences. In 2015, he won the first prize in paper presentation at the annual conference of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India-NE. He has delivered scientific talks at various national and regional conferences as a faculty member. Dr. Nath holds executive body membership positions in the Association of Oncologists of NE India (AONEI) and the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India-NE Chapter (AROI-NE). He is also a life member of various oncology associations, namely AONEI, AROI, and FHNO.

 

 

Dr. Nath has taken the initiative to implement various advanced radiotherapy procedures in the department, such as DIBH, SBRT etc. He actively participates in departmental academic activities, including radiation oncology post-graduate teaching and technologists and radiation physicist teaching programs.

 

 

Dr. Nath has completed training on the Revised Basic Course Workshop in Medical Education Technology and “Basic Course in Biomedical Research” conducted by ICMR and the National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai as mandated by National Medical Commission (NMC). Dr. Nath attended the Cancer Epidemiology and Surveillance Training (CanEST) conducted by ICMR-National Centre for Disease Informatics (NCDIR), Bengaluru, in June 2022. He also participated in the CReDO 2023 workshop in March 2023 at Lonavla organized by Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) and National Cancer Grid (NCG). Dr. Nath attended various workshops, including the ESTRO Gynae Brachytherapy workshop on Head, Neck, and Breast brachytherapy at TMH-Mumbai.

 

 

Besides routine clinical work, Dr. Nath is associated with other institutional academic and administrative activities. He leads the group of medico-social workers in the institute for the pre-treatment counseling program for patients and caregivers. He is also a member of the institutional data safety monitoring unit (DSMU). During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Nath worked as a teleconsultation coordinator for radiation oncology services.
