Dr Avdhesh Kumar Rai, Ph.D., Assistant Research Officer (Scientific Officer-D), DBT Centre for Molecualr Biology and Cancer Research has more than 12 years of experience in Cancer Molecular Biology and Diagnostics. His Ph.D. Thesis work was on tumor suppressor gene alterations in raw betel chewing oral andesophageal cancer patients of Meghalaya under the supervision of Prof. AnupamChatterjee, Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, North –Eastern Hill University, Shillong.  He has qualified Joint CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) two times.

  • Best poster award by JYOTI PROVA BORA FOUNDATION AWARD for cancer research, awareness and care at IIT Guwahati in August 2011.

Dr. Avdhesh kumar Rai has more than 25 peer reviewed indexed journal publications with cumulative scietaions 368, h-index-10 and i-10 index 11. His current current area of research is oral, breast and cervical cancer primarily focused on oral salivary microbiome role in oral cancer, DNA damage response in radiation, BRCA1/2 gene mutation profiling, HPV screening

 

Dr. Avdhesh Kumar Rai as Principal Investigator has completed two research projects and has two ongoing research project. He has completed more than 10 research projects as co-principal Investigator and there are 5 ongongoing research project. Research project were provided funding support from DBT, ICMR, SERB, NCDIR.

 

 

Dr. Rai is member secretary, Institutional Biosafety committee. He is Assistant Co-ordinator, Clinical Research Secretariat.

 

 

Dr. Rai was involved in teaching and practical activities of M.Sc. Cancer Biology course in collaboration of Gauhati University, Guwahati.

 

 

Dr. Rai has conducted several seminar and workshops. He has also attended many seminar/ conference/ workshops/ training in India and abroad.
