A day-long Capacity Development Workshop on Tobacco Control was held at Dr.B Borooah Cancer Institute-Tata Memorial Centre (BBCI-TMC) on 22nd May 2025. The Workshop was organized in collaboration with the National Health Mission, Assam, and the State Tobacco Control Cell. A total of 75 District Tobacco Nodal Officers and Nodal Officers of the District Non-Communicable Disease division attended the Workshop. The Chief Guest of the workshop was Mrs Indrani Laskar, Joint Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Assam. Dr Ramesh Bhatta, State Consultant, National Tobacco Control Program, was the Guest of Honor. Dr.B B Borthakur, Director of BBCI-TMC, delivered the welcome address to the delegates at the Workshop. Among others, Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi, Director of Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer-Tata Memorial Center, Mumbai, and Dr Amit Yadav, Deputy Director, Tobacco Control Vital Strategies, New Delhi, joined the Workshop via webinar.
