Dr (Major) Upasana Baruah - an accomplished medical professional with a wealth of experience in the field of gynaecological oncology.

She completed her MD in O&G from Guwahati Medical College in 2007 and then went on to serve as a Graded Specialist in Gynaecology in the Indian Army Medical Corp for five years, from 2008 to 2013.

 

She then pursued a Fellowship in gynaecological oncology in Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute in collaboration with under Shrimanta Sankardev University of Health Sciences from 2013 to 2015. In 2018, she completed an Advanced Cancer Screening Training Program for gynaecologists under NICPR-ECHO, which further solidified her expertise in the field of preinvasive disease management.

 

During her time as an Assistant Professor in the Gynaecologic Oncology Division under Department of surgical oncology at the Cancer Research Institute in Dehradun, she performed numerous surgeries related to gynaecological cancers. She has worked on cases ranging from preinvasive to invasive cancers of the female genital tract, and has developed a reputation for her surgical skill in this area. One aspect of her work that stands out is her proficiency in minimal invasive surgery (MIS). Her proficiency in MIS has allowed her to perform surgeries that would have otherwise required traditional open surgeries, making the process more efficient and less invasive for her patients.

 

After working in the Gynaecologic Oncology Division at the Cancer Research Institute in Dehradun from 2015 to 2019, Dr Upasana now serves as Professor in the Department of Gynaecologic Oncology at BBCI. She's also a proud member of various medical organizations such as LIFE MEMBER AGOICON and IASO, member of ESGO, and FOGSI.

 

After working as an Assistant Professor in the Gynaecologic Oncology Division at the Cancer Research Institute in Dehradun from 2015 to 2019, Dr Upasana now serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Gynaecologic Oncology at BBCI. She's also a proud member of various medical organizations such as LIFE MEMBER AGOICON and IASO, member of ESGO, and FOGSI.

 

In addition to her work, she has also received recognition for her research and paper presentations, including winning the 1st prize in the Young Gynaecological Oncologist section of paper presentations in the national conference AGOICON Patna 2014.

 

Her areas of interest include gynaecological oncology (both preinvasive and invasive cancers of the female genital tract) and minimal invasive surgery. She's also been involved in a variety of research projects as both a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator.

 

Outside of her work, she enjoys contributing to various medical publications and has written several book chapters for publications such as Principles and practice of cancer, Principles and Practice of common cancers, Triple C in cancer and Fundamentals In Gynaecologic Malignancy under Springer Publication.

 

With an impressive record of over 34 publications in indexed journals, as well as numerous contributions to medical textbooks, Upasana is an accomplished medical professional who possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise in her field.
