  • Dr. Shivaji Sharma, MS, MCh, Assistant Professor of Surgical Oncology is a young and dynamic surgical oncologist. He passed his MCh in Surgical Oncology from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru where he passed with flying colours, being the topper of his batch. Despite lucrative opportunities, he has decided to come back to his native place and dedicate himself to the treatment of cancer patients in the North East of India. He has been involved in the field of oncology since his MS days in 2016 when he was among 5 students chosen by TMH from all over India for Observership in Clinical Oncology in King’s College, London. Starting young, he has already been actively working in the field of surgical oncology since the last 6 years.
  • Dr. Shivaji Sharma worked in Robotic and Laparoscopic oncological surgery units during his MCh Surgical Oncology training and has been recommended by Head of the Departments of his institute for the same.
  • Dr. Shivaji Sharma has completed more than 80 major surgeries during 5 months in BBCI including breast, oesophagus, gastric, hepato-biliary (including gall-bladder) colorectal, genito-urinary, skin and thyroid malignancies; he has also operated several supra-major surgeries in collaboration with Gynaecological oncology. He strives to maintain his impeccable record of avoiding any major complications in his patients.
  • Dr. Shivaji Sharma is Co - Principal Investigator of the Breast BIRAC Project at BBCI that was started by TMH.
  • Dr. Shivaji Sharma has a special interest in the field of genito – urinary malignancies (urinary bladder, kidney, prostate and testicular tumours) as well as breast malignancies and breast conservation surgery including Tc-99 and ICG based sentinel node biopsies, reverse axillary mapping and oncoplastic breast reconstruction.
  • Dr. Shivaji Sharma is a warm and empathetic surgeon who will go out of his way to ensure that his patients get the best possible care. He has good communication skills, ability to work as a team as well as lead it, strong bonds with his co-workers that results in better inter-departmental communication, ability to quickly embrace and adapt to new technologies, think outside the box and take quick and definitive on – table decisions that are extremely crucial while operating on cancer patients. With age on his side, he hopes to dedicate many more years in service to his people and lend a healing hand to those afflicted with cancer.
